Fabricated truth!
Terre Planus, convenor, Central Victorian Chapter of the Flat Earth Collective
(Actually, Peter Ryan, Castlemaine)
I write to express my deep concern that people who share my belief that the Earth is Flat are not afforded equal time and space in today’s biased media, including your esteemed paper.
I know that scientists all over the world have been trying to convince us of the truth of their roundist theories for centuries now – but how do we really know that they are right?
They publish pictures of what they call ‘The Earth’ supposedly taken from space, but there is a strong body of thought that these so-called ‘Space Flights’ are actually part of a huge American and Chinese conspiracy designed to make us believe that these industrialised nations are all powerful. The pictures are mock-ups. Unfortunately, our government seems to have succumbed to this fabrication of the truth.
I demand that we Flat Earth Believers be given equal media time and space as the Roundists are given. Simply because we don’t accept the science does not make us wrong!
I demand respect. I am sick of people disagreeing with me, sometimes even mocking me simply because my views are different.
As I write this, I stand in solidarity with my fellow citizens – politicians included – who do not accept the science behind human-induced climate change. In fact, I suspect that many of them would, perhaps secretly, concur with my belief in the flatness of the Earth.
I look forward to a more balanced coverage in future in your paper.

Roundism is a cult!
Anyone who believes the flat earth theory does not deserve the respect of the media or the general public, also to come up with some BS idea that the Chinese and American government screamed up some story that the earth is round is laughable.
Hi Jamie, Peter’s letter was completely tongue in cheek. He was being sarcastic, not serious.
Yes Angela, this seems so obvious that it shouldn’t need pointing out. It’s charitable of you to do so, most people here it seems would instead resort to ridicule. There seems to be a lot of slow-on-the-uptake here in this in this opinion forum, a lot of sarcasm, ad hominem, and dishonest and misleading tactics, but very little honest rational contributions based on hard evidence with reputable citations. They’re wasting valuable space. Robust debate is debate strong enough to be open to a variety of issues and opinions, not a wide variety of creative insults, despite the fact that the phrase, “robust debate” has become a euphemism for a chaotic brawl. Monopolisation of a debate by self-styled elites stifling other viewpoints by mockery is not robust debate either.
