Sales soar for a cause

Gisborne Football Netball Club has sold more than 2000 FightMND beanies and raised more than $42,000 for the cause, which aims to find a cure for motor neurone disease.
In addition to selling FightMND beanies, Gisborne’s football and netball players wore FightMND socks for all their games on Saturday against Sandhurst in round eight of the BFNL competition.
With a number of people responsible for the record number of sales, GFNC would like to thank major sponsor Neal Street Medical Clinic with the team selling more than 200 beanies. In conjunction with this great effort, the club’s players were able to sell 1200 beanies in just a week. Michael Monaghan, spokesperson for the Golden Bulldogs, said he was really pleased with how the players embraced the initiative and got involved on Saturday and in the lead up to the weekend’s events.
Monaghan also wanted to acknowledge fellow Golden Bulldog Dale Pemberton who worked tirelessly to get the fundraiser organized. Gisborne Football Netball Clubs’ Golden Bulldogs are a coterie group that raises money for the club and takes part in social initiatives to help out people in the community. Most recently, the group raised money for the local RSL with their Walk to the Cross event on ANZAC day. The Golden Bulldogs would like to put out a big ‘thank you’ to everyone for their support.
