Time to take tea at Plaistow

Renowned for its luscious cakes and home-baked scones, the annual Biggest Morning Tea at Plaistow Homestead has gained a hungry legion of supporters.
In preparation for this year’s morning tea Lil and Peter Skilbeck, owners of this gracious country homestead at Joyces Creek, have again been busy preparing delicious morning tea treats ahead of the event that happens this Thursday.
“It’s very much a social occasion for the locals and not so locals,” Lil says of the annual event that raises funds for the Cancer Council.
“This year we will be having a guest speaker from the Cancer Council,” Peter says.
He says the Cancer Council’s Jane Auchettl will talk about the extensive range of services available for cancer patients and their families directly from the Cancer Council and at local hospitals and community health centres.
Lil and Peter are inviting everyone to get along to Plaistow Homestead for fresh tea from the teapot, plunger coffee and scones fresh from the oven all while sitting back and enjoying live music from harpist Jill Findlay and friends.
There’ll also be raffles and trading tables selling plants, jams, sauces, knitting and handcrafts.
Peter says that entry to Thursday’s Biggest Morning Tea at Plaistow is by donation of an unspecified amount.
But while the donation amount remains unspecified, Peter says they’re always astounded by the generosity of those who get along.
Biggest Morning Tea at Plaistow Homestead, located on Rodborough Road, happens from 10am to 12.30 this Thursday.
